About the Artist

Kailene (Kay-leen) is a socially conscious mixed-media artist from Edmonton, Alberta.

The central themes of her work include exploring the uncertainty of the human experience, deconstructing dysfunctional frames of reference, encouraging exploration of self, and challenging societal expectations as they relate to femininity, disability and income disparity.

Kailene has been exhibiting visual art since 2021, when her original and sustainably made poetry art was featured in the SkirtsAFire Festival. Since then, a variety of Kailene’s visual works have been featured in numerous local community galleries as well as at NextFest Edmonton 2024. At present, Kailene is a featured artist at Felice Cafe in Edmonton where she is exhibiting 8 original mixed media abstracts.

Kailene is currently creating her newest works under the moniker “homesick Visual Art” as she explores the nuances of belonging.
